Bunny Tales | Springtime Soiree

Have you ever heard the term used - 'A layout falling together'? There is a very different meaning to this term, in comparison to 'A layout coming together'. My layout today definitely 'fell' together- I had no plan whatsoever. It just kind of happened when I sat down and started to scrap. I won't lie....There were a few oopsies along the way, some mis-cutting, a few swear words.....But for having no plan, I was pretty happy with the result in the end. I wanted to document an Easter theme and decided to work with the 'Springtime Soiree' collection from Creative Memories.

I didn't have a lot of the Springtime Soiree collection left to work with, so made the most of what I did have. Here is a little break down of some of the supplies used for this layout:

Springtime Soiree Decorative Bundle

Field Fence border punch (O/S- May be substituted with Rustic Fence BMC used with Border Maker System)

Wildflower Border Punch (O/S- May be substituted with Wheatfield Border Punch)

First I trimmed a sheet of Bright White cardstock to measure 10" x 10" and adhered this over the top of designer paper. (You can remove the centre of the designer paper first if you wish to conserve your supply). Next, I punched along the edge of some green toned designer paper with my Wildflower Border Punch. (*This punch is out of stock now, but you could also use the Wheatfield punch as a substitute.) I then cut down the punched edge to a 10" x 3" size.

I wanted to add some colour to this border so I freehand punched once or twice using scraps from various coloured designer papers. Then, cut away individual little flowers and adhered over the green border in place. The Precision Point Glue Pen was used to stick these down and yes!... It was a fiddly process but I love the effect it gives to my overall layout. This border strip was adhered at the base of the Bright White Cardstock.

Next, I punched the Field Fence border punch from designer paper, trimmed it to a 10" wide piece and adhered over the green border, as well as a layered border from the Springtime Soiree collection.

(*The Field Fence punch is out of stock but you could substitute it with the Rustic Fence BMC and Border Maker System.)

It was time to create some Bunny ears. I used the small heart from the Gemstone CCS templates on Bright White cardstock. I cut once from the outside track using the red blade. Cut this in half and round out the shape a little of both halves to resemble ears with your scissors. Cut a second heart from designer paper and cut in half. Bring the two halves together and cut down the size considerably freehand with your scissors. They don't have to be perfect! Adhere these as centres to your white ears. Some ink was added to the edges of my ears to give a little definition. (*I used CTMH ink in 'Mink'.)

Next, I cut a 10" x 5" strip of paper and adhered 0.5" down from the top edge of the Bright White cardstock. A 10" x 1.5" strip of a contrasting paper was then adhered 0.5" up from the base of this main border piece. The ears were tucked in behind this smaller strip and I created a title using the White ABC embellishments. Another layered border was added to the top of the page.

All that was left to do was stick my photos into place. I cut three down to a smaller 3" x 3" size and one to 4" x 3". To complete my layout I just added a few flower stickers to the bottom of the page.

I hope you have enjoyed seeing my latest creation and perhaps give it a try for yourselves.

Until next time,

Kylie
